Yunasi Down Under
Yunasi have stamped their mark on Australia with 3 fantastic performances at the Bluesfest East Coast Blues and Roots Festival. After an early show on the Thursday evening which filled the stage tent to capacity the word spread so that by the time of the Saturday evening performance the festival organisers had to ask security to make a path for festival goers to be able to get in through the main gate because the massive Yunasi crowd was spilling out of the tent as far as the eye could see and blocking the entrance!
Another stunning performance on the Monday evening was followed by a Yunasi 'dance party' at the Great Eastern Hotel in Byron Bay on Wednesday. The final performance om Thursday saw Yunasi give their support to Africa LEAF charity, a local (Byron Bay) charity which raises money to fund an orphanage and schooling for Kenyan children. In Australian terms Yunasi 'went off!' with the 200 or so guests dancing anywhere they could get space.
And there's more.... Much more, the word is spreading...
We all had a lot of fun in Australia, even if we were working so hard we never even got to see a kangaroo! Many thanks to Air Mauritius who helped by sponsoring this trip - we couldn't have done it without you!

About Yunasi's latest album 'Nairobi' |
Produced by Tedd Josiah, Nairobi has echoes of The African Heritage Band's 1985 album Handas, as well as Mercy Myra's Nyisri Malong'o album, also produced by Josiah. Yunasi's signature of upbeat Kenyan urban music makes you want to get up and dance.
